Question: What is still the biggest problem on Earth?

It’s even bigger than the Covid19 plague. More disastrous than the global recession. Worse than nuclear weapons. To begin the discussion click below and watch my YouTube tutorial (8 mins) …

— This 8-min session was edited from Dr Michael Hewitt-Gleeson’s televised address with Zondwa Mandela (grandson of Nelson) to the Arab and African Youth Platform in Aswan, Egypt on 17 March, 2019.

When you complete these ten lessons, and the ten DFQs, you’ll qualify for your personalised Lateral Thinking Certificate – Advanced (LTC-A) from School of Thinking which can be useful to add to your Linked-In qualifications.

After you’ve watched and thought about the session reply with your own answer to the DFQ. In our training for each lesson we have a DFQ – Daily Feedback Question. Usually reply with your own thoughtful answer to the question in around 25 words or so. There’s no ‘right’ answer. It’s meant to be a personal comment. All the answers will later be shared.

DFQ #01What is the most important insight you personally have taken from this first lesson?

Record your answer below: ‘Leave your thought’. You can also read the thoughts and conversation points of others taking this course.

The next lesson will come tomorrow: Lesson #2 – The Solution.

  1. My insight on the biggest Problem on earth is our ability to change /escape from our point of view easyly. In our current way right/wrong situation its quite vexing sometimes to watch how we abuse our noble mind to defend our view points. Take a look at this statement: (When fixed beliefs, prejudice, bias, or a strong leaning in one direction, exist in the character of a person, the gaining of knowledge in any way, whether old or new, whether by study, or reading or otherwise, or by a higher power is impossible. Knowledge will not come to such a Mind.) This tell you how SOT is helping solve the bigest challenge facing MAN on Earth. Thanks

  2. The idea that one can think of things in a trinary way sounds interesting enough. It’s not that revolutionary nor shocking of a revelation.

  3. I believe having options on a spectrum is better. Many arguments and choices could find better resolutions if all parties would see more then A vs B.

  4. Very interesting to hear that our PFC doesn’t fully develop until mid 20’s. I am interested to see that if we are past our mid 20’s and our PFC has fully developed, is there a way we could rewire it to assist with changing the way we go about decision making etc going forward.

  5. Our Good vs Bad thinking is fuelled by our emotional thinking e.g. fear fuels us to think that something is just bad. How we perceive what’s right or wrong is also fuelled by how we are nurtured and what we believe in. Can thinking “better” be influenced by the same way? How can we break out of this cycle?

  6. The need for learning, training on an ongoing basis. That every human being has a part of the brain that needs human effort to get wired properly. The way an individual thinks and consequently lives out his/her life, profoundly impacts EVERYTHING – his/her surroundings, all other living beings, the universe, the cosmos – EVERYTHING. Lateral/trinary thinking vs binary thinking/Greco-Roman logic thinking.

  7. Overview of the 4 brains was really interesting and it makes sense that trinary thinking will be helpful for a software reboot. Thinking about how this might be helpful in mediation!
