The most interesting thing for me was other people’s stories, their different strengths and experiences. Lots of people with a passion for travel and learning with humour a common thread. The one about cycling through the Valley of the Kings that left out the funny bits – that was gold.
Building on your strengths is as important as improving your weaknesses – but more enjoyable!
How little we really knew about our strengths, and that we are not out there improving them every day.
It’s very interesting, in a good yet sad kind of way, to realise that we know very little about the people we spend most of the day with!
We don’t know each other very well and the personal stories give us an insight to our differences and similarities. I hope this builds communication and acceptance, we need to move beyond tolerance. Also we are all really quite interesting as I guess most people are, we just need to take the time to find out about others in order to find out more about ourselves
How different we all are and that all of the strengths are valuable.
The variety in people’s strengths, which if harnessed into a team could be a very powerful tool for an organisation.
Why don’t we ask some of our long-standing peers/work colleagues what they perceive as our strengths?
The main realisation is in understanding the need to focus on strengths rather than weaknesses to move forward. There is a need for continued practise to reach a high level of competency in our skills and to maintain an open mind to consider all options in dealing with problems.
Even strengths should be practiced.
