ATLC #04 – Leadership Thinking

My view is that leadership thinking can be based on a simple formula of three imperatives:

Escape + Search = Think

Escape + Search = Think

Escape + Search = Think

Click through and read about The 59 Second Course in Thinking and then think further about why these three imperatives were chosen. After that return here and do today’s DFQ.

DFQ #04:
Post your comment on how you think
ESCAPE + SEARCH = THINK might help
you to become a much better leader.

  1. “Thinking is the skill of leading one’s self..leadership is the skill of helping others to lead themselves…Like all human skills, these can be learned and developed….”
the more we practise escaping from our cvs. searching for a much better way, and repeating it over and over, the greater our skill, proficiency, virtuosity evolves as thinkers both for ourselves and our ability to help/find ways etc for others to, think and lead themselves..
    I think..

  2. ESCAPE + SEARCH = THINK

might help you to become a much better leader.

and also start Thinking in order to have a better vision

    to begin with.

  3. We can lead with better insight and better alternatives to become a much better leader through the 3 steps as follows:
If we can escape from our CVS—we can then take a quantum leap ahead of our own experience and jump to ‘a much better way’—a BVS. We can experiment and we can innovate.
Once we escape from the CVS—the current way—we can search for the BVS—the much better way.
To become proficient in escaping from your CVS and searching for a BVS (the much better way) always involves practice and repetition—at least ten times—if we are to build new cognitive patterns and acquire skill and virtuosity.

  4. There is no ‘final’ answer, only possibilities. There is always ‘better’. A continuous search of the horizon. An imperative aspect of a leader.

  5. You can think from where you are
You can search from where you are.
But first of all, you must escape from where you are!

  6. For me the value of the equation is the flow of thought, instead of being inhibited by dogmatic ego inspired decisions, the “answer” is open ended-this possibility of thousands! When we escape habitual responses and search for functional alternatives our thought process isn’t paralyzed by fear of failure, just a hypothosis that no longer works.

  7. Many times we feel locked in a situation. Doing the cvsxbvs, it is possible to find not only a way out, but a much better way to do things than we ever thought was possible
hence in such way it helps me
ESCAPE + SEARCH = THINK might help
you to become a much better leader.

  8. For me the main thing is never to stop escaping, but to keep doing it a little bit at a time. keep making incremental escapes to a new BVS, to ensure that it remains contextualised with and linked to the CVS. Otherwise I very quicly arrive at an ultimate, true, philosophical and almost entirely useless BVS

  9. By building perspectives we can escape from the cvs2bvs. This is because there is always a way out of every situation.
However, Repetition is a key to improvement

  10. Vision & Imagination are two of the many qualities of a true leader. This is possible only for men who can ‘Escape’ from CVS and Innovate which again is possible by ‘Search’ for e better solution…

To be a leader I need to to Escape + Seach and start Thinking in order to be a visionary – to begin with.
