ATLC #04 – Leadership Thinking

My view is that leadership thinking can be based on a simple formula of three imperatives:

Escape + Search = Think

Escape + Search = Think

Escape + Search = Think

Click through and read about The 59 Second Course in Thinking and then think further about why these three imperatives were chosen. After that return here and do today’s DFQ.

DFQ #04:
Post your comment on how you think
ESCAPE + SEARCH = THINK might help
you to become a much better leader.

  1. If escape is the key to success.
Then you stay on the keyboard.
    Because I’m not that type.

I’m away to seek new characters
    My function is to learn.
    I/O you, I/O me
If I manage to capitalize – I shall return!

  2. Our CVS is generally an automatic response based upon past beliefs and perceptions created through years of repetition. If we pause momentarily to escape, i.e., not accept the old programmed thoughts and to question whether there are different ways to look at this, a BVS, then we have the opportunity to search our mind for infinite new ways of thinking about and seeing things.

  3. By overcoming established patterns of thought, I’ll be able to get a glimpse of alternative solutions and opportunities not afforded by my current thought process and by demonstrating superior the results of this new process of discovery, lead by example.

  4. the need to escape and the searching for a BVS require thinking so u can always have a new escape

  5. While I agree with the steps and the concepts, my challenge would be in the ESCAPE. This is especially true when previous procedures resulted in workable or good outcomes. Why change something, when it is working well?

The exciting challenge now is exactly in the ESCAPE – to keep an open mind and ESCAPE. I would have to do this without any preconceived notions and accept that from any cvs can come a bvs. Just start…SDNT, isn’t it?

  6. I’ve learned and used the concepts of CVS2BVS and BVS = 10 X CVS. escape + search = think adds the demention, if needed, to introduce radical changes as opposed to incrimental changes.

  7. By showing others clever possibilities they would not have thought on their always scores points!

I think the most powerful use of the word ‘escape’ in this instance is things only exist if we acknowledge them.

Without being smug when asked about the glass being half empty or half full my answer for a long time has been: prove the glass exist or my new favorite…What glass?

Also the glass could be considered completely full one half water one half air. Does that make me an abundance seeker by acknowledging something out of thin air? 🙂

  8. OK…. I will be the leader willing to put aside the old way of thinking about a problem and search for possiblities, options and alternatives. I will then effect a change in those I lead by requiring the new way of thinking be practiced and repeated.

I will be a much better leader because I am willing to change and grow and encourage those I lead to also change and grow.
