My view is that leadership thinking can be based on a simple formula of three imperatives:
Escape + Search = Think
Escape + Search = Think
Escape + Search = Think
DFQ #04:
Post your comment on how you think
ESCAPE + SEARCH = THINK might help
you to become a much better leader.

Understanding team mates point of view and help explore new ideas and future possibilities for the team or business
once you achive the possiible of getting out of your own heads space, which is a hard wired thing not to do, it actually gets easier to do bvs
The brain is available for use along with the senses. Using them will improve their use.
Leadership is all about guiding and influencing other people AND their organisation to escape to a bvs.
My favourite definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results.
Most so-called leaders are not leaders at all. They are just insane managers going through the motions.
It’s a simple formula to escape from usual thinking patterns; in turn, it escapes you from cvs, and… might it be that bvs makes you a much better leader?
To stop whenever it is possible and spend time differently — to thank people for sharing their viewpoint, especially if it is in conflict or contrast with mine.
I realise, if i don’t give permission (outwardly) to others to remind or help me to shift perspective, i track down old pathways and continue to take an unconscious standpoint that ‘i am right’, and that this is ‘the way’.
Using this as a regular feedback model — to ask for other peoples impressions or viewpoints, or to simply take a moment to ‘check’ for other possibilities is an incredible experience, even if it only opens up the insight of just how ‘mechanical’ my thinking is by default. Our brains are wired that way — to constantly seek efficiencies and this happens by narrowing down options! However we CAN bypass that with deliberate, intentional exploring!
Having this formula in my thinking brain will stop the regular pattern of thinking and remind me to switch to escaping from my regular thinking pattern and searching for new ideas. This has to bring new and exciting ideas into the methods used in the business.
need to always think what you can do better
sometimes you do not recognise the best option till after when it may be too late
Perspective. Pure and simple. An open mind to a potential bvs gives a greater opportunity of finding and realising a bvs. Ultimately one has to interrupt the cycle and take action but there is always an understanding that at some point in the time continuum all the variables will have adjusted yielding another bvs….ad infinitum.
Escaping from cvs is the only way to learn, explore new “territories”, getting better, to change, using the tremendious power of the cognos, etc. ….
Regarding leading this is important for
– first leading myself – so I might be a role model for other people
– leading other people – by helping them getting unstuck, giving them inspiration and a perspective for their own life.
