What are the three most important opportunities facing you in your business/career/life right now where you need to PTO?
What turns you on?
What are you ‘passionate’ (overused, I know) about?
What are your strengths?

OPPORTUNITIES
Here are some examples listed by previous members:
– to buy some land
– to get a better job
– to help the sick and the poor
– to learn acting
– to start playing the piano again
– to grow their business; to go back to school
– to raise their income
– to give up smoking
– to improve their golf.

DFQ #18:
PEEL AN OPPORTUNITY ORANGE!
Choosing one of the three opportunity areas you thought of above give yourself an orange to peel. Complete (with who, when and where) the following sentence:Regarding my (#1 opportunity) I will PTO ….

Hmmm, my number one opportunity is also my number one problem – just depends upon how you look at it. That one was about securing new funding $$ for ongoing research but I guess it would be pretty boring just to put that down here again so I will go with number 2.
Regarding the opportunity to increase my publication rate I will start today by taking down the old list of papers I would like to publish from my office wall. Thankfully most of these I have achieved. I will rewrite a new list today, prioritising them from most immediately doable to those that still need some research completed. I will stick the new list back up and begin, hopefully this weekend to work towards ticking off the first one.
Though I’ve been flying sailplanes for a number of years, I’m still only a competent pilot, and my skill level has plateaued at a very low [but safe] level.
This summer I will fly more hours than I have flown any other gliding season.
This season I will fly more frequently with experienced pilots and learn from them.
To give up smoking – I am a relatively new smoker (2 years) and surprisingly was the type of person who berated smokers regularly despite smoking the odd cigar.
To give up is purely in my domain and I intend to reduce my smoking over the next two months and have completely stopped by the end of January 2010. I will do this by also increasing my ‘healthy’ activities but also reserve the right to smoke the odd cigar, particularly when I am in Cuba in November!
Regarding a science publication opportunity I will gather final information on the work with my team by the end of next week. We will look at journal options with an assessment of the work’s strengths and any gaps that can be addressed to get the paper into best, most appropriate journal.
Regarding my opportunity to release the weight of clutter I will PTO by removing 2 pieces of furniture I wanted to get rid of this week.
Regardsing my No 1 opportunity I will PTO by;
1. I will talk to HR.
2. Continuing Studies and work extra hard.
3. Set the goal of one day attending Columbia Univeristy in New York.
Regarding my purchase of another investment property I will contact my network for opportunities, draw up a budget and complete a decision map of the possible alternatives.
Regarding my no 1 opportunity of growing my coaching business i by will pto my discussions with the group in order to increase the meeting times to 2xs a week by this sunday and also increase and make available more study material.
Growth of my business:
1. Re-identify ideal clients
2. Diversify marketing strategy
3. Test
4. Change (marketing strategy) if necessary, and keep on changing until desired results are achieved
I suppose I look at opportunities and problems in similar ways, since the opportunity is one solution to the problem from the last lesson. As a result the PTO I did for the problem is nearly the same I would do for the opportunity.
Regarding my opportunity for self-employment, I will PTO by contacting Carlie about the work she wants done; I will resume studying for one certification I plan to earn; and I will contact the documentation team about volunteering.
