COMMENT: Having reviewed last week what is the most interesting thing you got from the week’s training on ‘strengths’:

  1. The most interesting thing that I have learned in the past week of training is how such a small group of people can have such a diverse range of strengths yet few of us have the natural strength of leadership quality. It seems to me that If I want to become a true leader then I must train to become one, and train to remain one over and over again.

  2. I found it interesting that I had great difficulty talking about my strengths. My upbringing and thinking has been such that I rarely (truely) acknowledge my strengths..yes I have paid lip service, but have never taken my strengths seriously….I have been taught to beware of my ego.. I delight in acknowledging strengths in others, but have not allowed myself to see my own.
So, in one week, my self esteem has been greatly boosted and my feeling of self confidence in actions has been bolstered. This in turn has vastly changed my perception of my world around me..and from small changes, myriads of other changes grow. (are growing) (CVS to BVS)

  3. Looking at your strengths is an instantaneous booster. It creates opportunities for new pathways and personal enhancement; straight away, not down-the-track like working on your weaknesses.

The quest to become a ‘better person’ is a good one and working on our weaknesses is part of this. But simply acknowledging them and then utilising our strengths is a much more powerful way forward.

  4. The most interesting thing for me is the renewed awareness of my need for response. After all my training in this kind of work, I still find myself looking for the “right” answer to these questions. How funny! I KNOW better but my instinct doesn’t… So possibly my Social Intelligence strength also leaves me vulnerable when I get no feedback.

  5. The most interesting thing for me was the ways in which we can see our strengths in action, yet someone else may not have noticed that particular strength shining through in some of the most simplistic or ordinary circumstances.. especially at work i think this is appropriate..

  6. The most interesting thing for me was the diversity of experiences, honesty and reposnes to the questions. It was also intersting to read some very personal information about people with vastly different life experieinces. The other thing I found interesting was the number of people that had creativity as one of their strengths.

  7. I always think I know my strengths and weaknesses but it certainly was interesting to do these types of tests to see whether my own evaluation corresponds to what other peoples’ measurement of these strengths and weaknesses are.

  8. Awareness brings clarity, that which I have been seeking for most of my adult life. See an interpretation of my strengths and then using this information to clarify who I am and what I desire to do with the rest of my life, and to use those strengths to their fullest potential.

  9. What is most fascinating to me is how strengths can vary from person to person and how, by working as a team, share those strengths.

Our weaknes may be someone else’s strengt and vice versa.
