My view is that leadership thinking can be based on a simple formula of three imperatives:
Escape + Search = Think

you get used to thinking in certain ways
and u need to get out of the box to see things differently
training yourself to think more effectively helps yourself be more effective in life and others
As my NLP instructor once said – “if you see a pattern, break it”.
You need to be aware of the thinking and patterns that are happening in your map of the world and be open to escaping them and looking for alternatives.
I have recently been the subject to a pointed attack, disguised as good humor..escaping from my CVS ;that is of being outraged and responding accordingly allowed me to search for a better view of the situation.My BVS provided a confronting reply which has resulted in the other party now doing business in the spirit and manner it was in the past .
This would have been impossible if i had not Escaped Searched and Thought of a way to lead us both out of an impossible situation.
I think the E+S=T strategy will help me change some those responses that are habitual. If I don’t lookfor a BVS then I won’t find one!
It’s helping me already, that is;
T = E + S otherwise, I am not thinking ‘to improve’. I may just go round and round achieving nothing.
Here, I will be a visionary leader who will be leading the followers toward a better & better future.
Escape from a perspective and view that could be tarnished with biased thoughts and considerations. Escape from making a decisions that has been less than fully heard and comprehended. Escape from the potential mistake that you have over looked. Search for that special alternative. Search for that new perspective that is fair, rational and innovative. Search for the new thinking that you have trained your brain to consider and look for. Search for the potentially perfect solution. Think about your thinking. Think about the time you have used to think, plan, implement and justify your thinking. Think and enjoy the experience that thinking supplies your entire bodily function.
I think this will help me become a better leader by actually doing it daily , until it becomes second nature. It all make perfect sense we all probably know we need to escape, but its the actuality of doing it which makes it really a skill and then delivers new bvs.
So today it felt strange saying and wiring in these new codes but its started.
Asking myself questions such as ” Why are we doing it this way?” and ” How can this be made better?” will help to improve things. If I can make things better for myself and for those around me, then I will be starting down the path of being a better leader.
I don’t argue against the word Escape, but one must realise that one is not captive in the Current Situation or at least the View of the Current Situation. Be aware, yeah, of the Current Situation, BUT, the View remains Mine and I can change my View to a Better View of the Situation at any time.. So… Think… Search and Think..
And Do It. Arrive at a Better View of the Situation.
A good way of leading is leadind by exemples. If you can be an exemple or a model for one to be inspired you are a skilled leader.
The better the exemple, the better the aprentice. CVS2BVS can be propagated through one’s leading potential.
