ATLC #04 – Leadership Thinking

My view is that leadership thinking can be based on a simple formula of three imperatives:

Escape + Search = Think

Escape + Search = Think

Escape + Search = Think

Click through and read about The 59 Second Course in Thinking and then think further about why these three imperatives were chosen. After that return here and do today’s DFQ.

  1. With this special formular, there is hope, strenght & power to challenge all challenges; to possible all impossibilities and to convert every adversity into oppotunity. it’s all about solution(s)

  2. The main theme of this idea is ability to examine bigger picture and available option by escaping from CVS. Then corner stone of leaderships ability to see what is possible but not apparent yet to an ordinary person. Escaping and then searching new possibilities is leading in personal and public realm.

  3. Escape + Search = Think might help me to become a much better leader by providing an instantly accessible tool to allow alternatives to be generated. It also encourages input and empowerment of others by encouraging their own escape + search = think, which opens up even more 10 power.

  4. By choosing to escape obstacles , limitations or viewpoints I can continually improve and find better ways to cope with any situation .

  5. The hardest is step is to escape from our CVS. We’ve been trained most of our lives to defends our believes or simple accept our current situation. There’s been a fear to change hardcoded into our mind, but once we learn to escape from it the feeling of freedom and the possiblilties this opens is … can’t discribe it.
Once you escape searching is evaluating options and selecting one or more, why not.

  6. There are two possible ways of dealing with one’s cvs. The first option is to defend the cvs and the other is to escape (Hewitt-Gleeson, 2010). Defending the cvs spells lack of progress and at the same time curtailing creativity in favour on doing business as usual. Escape on the other hand means that you are not in any way beholden to your current view, but that you are flexible and ready to explore options. The combination of escape and search is the basis of progressive thinking. I think with practice, this tool will help me enhance my leadership thinking and overall problem-solving skills.

  7. I think this tool will help me to become a better leader by not dwelling on a current negative CVS and attempting to explore and find the BVS. Sometimes so much time and energy is wasted on discussing a negative situation but not really doing anything to improve or change the situation! CVS to BVS allows me to escape the idea that nothing can change and allowing me to have the power of thoughts and ideas to find a BVS.

  8. As a teacher and leader I must always do the best I can and lead by example. Escaping from cvs and by searching and trying to achieve the bvs I will begin to uncover a new way of viewing situations.

  9. You only escape from a current situation when you are faced with imminent threat, when the current environment is getting boring or when you become uncomfortable. When escaping to a new place, you will have to search for new opportunities to create a better environment in which you feel safe, comfortable and excited. When facing a problem, the leader will need to find solutions. By abandoning the current view of situation, which might have now become the problem, the leader will have to imagine the better situation and search for ways to reach there. The CVS 2 BVS switch is a good tool helping to intiate the imagination. Leadership is about being ahead of others and about taking initiative. If you know you have the tool, you will try to use it first.
