Bonus message for SOT Lateral Thinkers: Meet Sir Gus :-)

As a special bonus message I’d like you to meet Sir Gus Nossal who is a great friend of the School of Thinking and is a founding member of our SOT Science Symposium which meets quarterly to discuss issues relating to thinking and science.

Sir Gus is also one of Australia’s greatest science lateral thinkers of international reputation. Most importantly he is a very nice gentleman. I love being in his company and you always learn and laugh at the same time.

In the July 2018 symposium the question under discussion was: How can placebos work in the triune human brain? Click for more info
Sir Gus being invested as a knight by Queen Elizabeth II at Yarralumla in 1977.

I recently found this wonderful video (27 mins) which is full of great stories and allows you to go for an intimate joyride with Sir Gus. Yes, the sound is quite scratchy but, no matter, there are sub-titles and it’s a fun interview and will lift your spirits and inspire you, as a lateral thinker. The episode is called Scientists in a $h!tBox Spelling it Out and just click here and fasten your seatbelt …

  1. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Sir Gus, and even being able to introduce my son to him as well during his school project for “Night of the Notables”. Listening to Gus is always a pleasure and I hope that this national treasure is doing well and staying safe.
Thank you Michael & German for the refresher on the 10x course; it’s been good thinking outside the box/page/form/template, and I look forward to receiving my certificate.

  2. Interesting video. Thanks for the lessons of x10 thinking, something that will prove very valuable into the future.

I look forward to the certificate when you get time.

  3. How entertaining is Sir Gus.
Very informative lessons, personally I know I need to consider how I allow my fear of being wrong to restrict my x10 thinking. I’ve completed all 10 lessons and would like to request my certificate when convenient.

  4. Enjoyable video from Gus. Thank you.
Have enjoyed the course and definitely trying to change my cvs into bvs.

  5. A very enjoyable interview with Sir Gus. I have also enjoyed the 10x course and refresher on lateral thinking. Please send through the certificate when convenient. Thank you.

  6. I appreciate the opportunity to watch Sir Gus’s interview, and also to undertake this course. I am now more aware of the need to take the time to think about alternatives and not to just go with my first thought.

Could you please send the certificate.

  7. A very enjoyable video about Sir Gus.
As he points out, an important component to Lateral Thinking is tenacity.
Thank you for a great course.
If I can use x10 Thinking just a few times, it would be worth it.
    Please send the Certificate.

  8. Thanks Michael for the course. I enjoyed the journey of training my brain for thinking out of the box. It was good to hear from Gus, a lateral thinker.

  9. Gus is great – a good reminder that world-renowned, highly influential scientists are just real people who think differently, laterally speaking. The x10 lessons were good value and won’t be the end of it for me. Thanks Michael (for the course and certificate).
