ATLC #05 – More on Leadership Thinking

6principles

In addition to Escape + Search = Think leadership thinking can also incorporate 6 principles which we emphasise. I have encouraged trainers and leaders to understand and master the Six CAP Principles.

Now click through and read about these six CAP principles and try to explore in your own mind the value of each of these ideas, then come back and do today’s DFQ.

DFQ #05:

Choose one of the six CAP principles, and say why you think a better understanding of that principle will help you to become a much better leader.

NOTE: After you post your comment today you’ve completed 5 DFQs and the first week of the 4 weeks of the 30-day Pipeline. That’s good. It means you are already establishing new cognitive patterns. Keep it up!

You may have noticed that I sent you 1 lesson a day for 3 days then missed a day. After this lesson, I’ll miss another day and then send you lesson #6 which starts the second week. That means you get 5 DFQs every 7 days.

  1. ‘Commitment to Action’ is the key component of 6 CAP Principles, even though listed at number four. It should be number ONE

Learnning to Teching requires ‘commitmnet’ towards ”Teaching’ so that you learn.

Devloping Knowledge into a ‘skill’ needs ‘commitment’ to practice & repitition

Willingness to ‘trade off’ time in the current stressfull and competitive environment also needs ‘commitment’

‘Follow up’ and ‘Reinforcement’ leads to satisfaction and motivation and ‘commitment’ to continue

  2. I think I’ll go for number one.
If I cant explain it to number one
How can I explain it to anyone ?

  3. Learning by teaching

    A win win !
good for the teacher in a thorough understanding

good for the student, as they are being taught by someone who really understands the topic

  4. 1. Learning By Teaching

This way knowledge (and skill) rubs off on team members.
Also, you start to ask more (better) questions if you have to explain something because then you really start to think about it.

  5. 2.- KNOWLEDGE INTO SKILL – The virtue of virtuosity

PRR is a must for me, this will help me in developing my leadership skills.

  6. 1: Learning by teaching because this opens up a dialogue rather than a monologue with your participants it also forces you to challenge your understanding when you are asked for clarity where there may not have been clarity until now that you are put on the spot.

  7. I already try to “learn by teaching” but can develop this much more. I am relatively new to management and supervision (I work in the public sector now) but find that the skills I learned from many years as a house carpenter are directly applicable to my present work. In particular, I want to help my staff improve their work through applying the idea of “imagine the end result, consider how much time you have and what resources are available, and work backwards to the present to develop a sound, workable plan for achieving that result”. This what you have to do if you’re building a house, but I find that very few people without practical experience in manual work use this approach. Through trying to teach others this way of planning and managing work, I am learning how to be a patient, creative, and effective leader.

  8. number 4 Commitment to Action because new skills arent learnt unless they are practised. There must be something to make us switch theoretic knowledge to action and “action comittments” are the method.
understanding this principle and application for myself will make me a better leader. Leaders are measured on their own and their teams actions and results not theory. Principle 4 is the key to moving from theory and ideas to action and positive change

  9. Knowledge into skill..
practising and making what u know will work actually work..
in know the theory for many of the things that i really should know the prectical for..
if i took the time to turn this knowledge into skill i would be a much better leader..

  10. For me to pass on the knowledge to others, the knowledge has to be part of my own daily life and conviction, in other words live it through regular practice and repetition. By experiencing it personally, it enhances the knowledge and becomes more convincing to the students. Expressing true experience is always better than reading and then teaching it to others without truly feeling the subject.
