ATLC #05 – More on Leadership Thinking

6principles

In addition to Escape + Search = Think leadership thinking can also incorporate 6 principles which we emphasise. I have encouraged trainers and leaders to understand and master the Six CAP Principles.

Now click through and read about these six CAP principles and try to explore in your own mind the value of each of these ideas, then come back and do today’s DFQ.

DFQ #05:

Choose one of the six CAP principles, and say why you think a better understanding of that principle will help you to become a much better leader.

NOTE: After you post your comment today you’ve completed 5 DFQs and the first week of the 4 weeks of the 30-day Pipeline. That’s good. It means you are already establishing new cognitive patterns. Keep it up!

You may have noticed that I sent you 1 lesson a day for 3 days then missed a day. After this lesson, I’ll miss another day and then send you lesson #6 which starts the second week. That means you get 5 DFQs every 7 days.

  1. 4. Commitment to Action
Leadership starts within me – how do I lead myself – so I can be a role model for others.
This commitment to action is my biggest challange sometimes …
Therefore after reading the 6 CAPs I installed a ritual for me to make it a habit.

I am convinced this will make a huge difference in my life.

  2. I would like to choose all 6 , but I will choose 2. Knowledge into Skill. Developing a thorough understanding and conviction of the difference between merely having knowledge on a matter and owning a skill of performance in it. The virtue of virtuosity. Understanding the strategy of practice and repetition.
I know that the more highly skilled I am, the more confident I will be to lead. And to have confidence is to have a high level of skill, and to have a high level of skill takes practice and repetition.

  3. I will choose ” learning by Teaching”. This is because as I learn to teach, I get better understanding than learning without teaching. Teaching my friends at school what I have learn made me get more information on knowledge that I know can give me much better understanding in my daily activities.

  4. Learning By Teaching is a great way to crystallize ideas. It does not have to be actual teaching – just imaging how I would teach a concept to a person contributes considerably to clarifying my ideas. Of course it is better to teach in reality as in this case there is a feedback.
Learning By Teaching is a bit like Learning By Writing a Book. Sometimes a person could suffer from the illusion of knowledge and when he or she sits down to teach/write one realizes that putting the internalized concepts into words could help him/her get a better or a new insight about these concepts.

  5. I feel that, principle 3 on mesurements is very important if you going to achive something. Perhsps I th is one of weak sides of mine)

  6. Cap one, has a unique element that interest me, and that is the Learning by teaching. its just like practices by repetition, the more you practice what you know, in this case teaching others of what you know, makes you learn more by teaching it to other to understand.

  7. Applying Knowledge into skill will be my focus area. You learn lot of new things everyday, how you apply the same in your personal and professional life make the difference in you being successful .

  8. I think teaching skills to others is a great way to become a leader. In today’s business world, it is important to be a coach.
However, I also think the other point of measurement is important. It is hard to take these caps separately. Measuri.
ng is important for assessing whether an effort is worth it or not. Leaders must not waste efforts of themselves or their followers

  9. KNowledge into action – to be able to apply what I learn and know in to effective action. Therefore I think I need to Practise, Rehearse and Repeat until I get it.
