Lateral Thinking Certificate-Advanced (LTC-A) – Lesson #02 – The Solution …

The last lesson was about The Problem, the deficit in Human Thinking. Today’s lesson begins to look at – The Solution – which I have called, ‘software for your brain’. Click to watch the 15-min tutorial …

— This 15-min session was edited from Dr Michael Hewitt-Gleeson’s televised address with Zondwa Mandela (grandson of Nelson) to the Arab and African Youth Platform in Aswan, Egypt on 17 March, 2019.

The DFQ #02 (Daily Feedback Question) – ‘Leave your thought’ below and answer this question: What idea have you taken from this lesson that you can actually try to use today?

Tomorrow’s Lesson #03 – The Intelligence Trap.

LEAVE YOUR THOUGHT: Those who complete all ten DFQs in this training will get a personalised Lateral Thinking Certificate from the School of Thinking. After you’ve watched and thought about the tutorial session reply with your own answer to the DFQ. In our training for each lesson we have a DFQ – Daily Feedback Question. Usually reply with your own thoughtful answer to the question in around 25 words or so. There’s no ‘right’ answer. It’s meant to be a personal comment. Just leave your thought. You can also read the comments of the others. All the answers will be shared around.

  1. Use “CVStoBVS” as a switch. PRACTICE, its difficult to change ingrained ways of thinking. I’m going to start practicing with my kids to help us all practice looking for a BVS.

  2. It is so easy to be stuck in the binary system of thinking. Recognising the need for change and wanting to change the way you think is in itself a BVS.

  3. It’s quite clever to have the readable comment section here to pick a BVS instead of your CVS

  4. Failure is never failure; failure is a lesson. By disengaging with our propensity to own our view and feed our current view of the situation, we can enrich our view by momentarily choosing to seek a better view of the situation.

  5. To CVS to a BVS, one will use it’s own judgmental (right/wrong) system which will end up with binary one again? Interesting point is “fear from failour” which makes you to fail!

  6. CVS to BVS. Looking forward to seeing if I can think more about this and keep saying it in my head.

  7. I can see how people around me have encouraged resilience or provided constructive criticism (rather than just criticism) by having and communicating effectively a BVS, and it’s great that I don’t have to find a BVS by myself, but ‘source’ it from others… so is thinking our greatest problem, or listening?

  8. To escape from my point of view – to consciously look for a BVS and to learn more from my failures than my successes.
