#2 – Be judgmental

Easy instructions on how to use the Ten Mindful Emojis:

• Mindful emojis are always put at the beginning of the text message, not the end.

• A mindful emojis is a powerful thinking software for the brain. For example, the black hat emoji “BE JUDGMENTAL” is an algorithm for the deliberate use of judgmental thinking.

• Mindful emojis can be sent to yourself, others or groups.

Be Negative. Think inside the box. Use Black Hat thinking. Be conscious of the fact that you are being deliberately judgmental. Say why you think it’s wrong. Why it won’t work. Why it’s not true. Why you do not believe it or do not agree with it. Note that if you’re simply being emotional then that comes under another emoji.

Be judgmental.

DFQ: How can I be judgmental today?

Give an example of a text message or email you can send today and post your result. Remember, when you text, you can put the black hat emoji at the beginning of your message to show that you are deliberately being judgmental.

EXAMPLE: (SMS to coach) …

KEY STRATEGY: In these first ten lessons you will learn a simple but powerful algorithm called cvs2bvs that asks two main questions: What is the cvs? and What is the bvs? or What is the current view of the situation? and What is the better view of the situation?

cvs2bvs is also called The First Law of Thinking.

  1. Email to coach: I thought the game was spoilt by the parents of the other side. They were loud and agressive. I resented their distractions.

  2. (Being judgmental emoji)
I think that if we decide to do our training elsewhere than in Besançon, on the one hand we will have to increase our prices because we will certainly not find conditions for renting a room at our convenience as advantageous and, on the other hand On the other hand, we are very likely to lose a large part of our Swiss clientele, whereas for the last year it has been a growing part of our audience.

  3. Letter to doctor:

Your diagnosis leading to a script for antibiotics and steroids did not work. In fact, we were later told it would not help due to the illness being a virus. I know you are trying to help, but I’d rather you say you don’t know than give medication that doesn’t help and may cause other issues further down the track.

  4. Email to exec- I think the business owner of this project does not understand how a program should be delivered and what kind of trade-offs need to be made to achieve the objectives. The amount of information hidden , not shared transparently with wider stakeholders is staggering. And I think there seems to be lack of honesty in the design of outcome , its sequencing and its sizing. With this environment and these aspects no wonder many people have resigned and taken all the knowledge and expertise with them. If the program construct continues like this without any challenge , re-thinkiing and same ownership and I will be surprise if the program outcome will be delivered at all no matter how much money we throw at it.

  5. Email to motor vehicle dealer:
The advertisement for the vehicle stated that it came with a 100 point safety check. This has not been received. We took the vehicle to the repairer recommended by you who stated that the vehicle was in the condition whereby it would not be possible to obtain a road worthy certificate and it was not safe to drive. We therefore demand a refund of the purchase price immediately.

  6. Message to a client: I heard your comment that Facebook doesn’t help your business. It’s true it doesn’t bring leads the way other tactics do. Your clients and prospects are using it, however. They require your presence although not in a big nor expensive way. Let the number decide what needs to be done, not opinions.

  7. Text to Group:

I am certain that if the incumbent is allowed to take a second tenure his performance will be worse. He lacks the requisite capacity to make a positive difference and is out of touch with current reality.

    1. Having tax payers pay for convicted undocumented felons of serious criminal offenses to return to the US to have their court cases heard on appeal is a waste of money, The money should be used to pay for undocumented mothers and children to pay for housing, education, or medical services.

  8. Email to management:
Client has signed Sufficient Funds Form so we have fulfilled our duty of care in relation to funding under the contract however I believe that unless client secures loan they don’t have the funds to complete and I suggest we do not commence until we have received formal loan approval notification from client.

  9. Text to teacher :
I have noticed that you often concentrate to cover the syllabus, it doesn’t matter to you how the quality of learning is. Please be aware that beside the commitment to time the quality must be considered.

  10. Being judgement emoji: Has anyone found the information about the project status to have met their needs?

  11. The wedding party will last all night and tomorrow I’ll have a hangover before going to work. It should be on a Saturday, not Sunday!

  12. Round 2
I don’t have to be so judgemental about people. I always need to understand them and their situations , and also need to receive wisely their feedbacks, then I would form clear valuable opinions .

  13. Email to self:

Injuries and deaths are just a consequence of infrastructure work. It has always been that way. The bosses want things done quicker, better, and safety gets a distant third. The unions hate the Engineers, the Engineers feel the workers cause the problems themselves and deflect any liability that comes up. There is no point trying to get them to help each other out. They are too far gone. Why bother.

  14. Memo to myself
All that politicians care about is to be re-elected and their own self interest. They are not interested in looking at long term solutions to problems unless there is also a short term gain for them.

  15. Text to Son
While I was pleased we were able to get a practice training ‘walk’ in before our Oxfam 100km event in a couple of weeks, your tendency to say ‘sorry’ so often (almost with every second spoken word) I found disconcerting. You are either seeking my redemption or you’re not really sorry and are merely seeking to appease your own sense of guilt. Rather than apologise, if you think it needs contrition on your behalf, reflect more positively on the forebearance of the other. For example, ‘thank you for your patience while I take/make this work related call; or I am grateful that you waited for me.
