Would you torture me? I would torture you!

In one of the most dramatic psychology experiments ever conducted, Professor Stanley Milgram proved that I would torture you and that you would torture me if we were directed to do so by a recognised authority.

This was the famous experiment called the Milgram Experiment.

Hard to believe? Well they’ve done it again …

BBC News:
Decades after a notorious experiment, scientists have found test subjects are still willing to inflict pain on others – if told to by an authority figure. US researchers repeated the famous “Milgram test”, with volunteers told to deliver electrical shocks to another volunteer – played by an actor.

Even after faked screams of pain, 70% were prepared to increase the voltage, the American Psychology study found. Both may help explain why apparently ordinary people can commit atrocities.

  1. What’s wrong with the genetic pool of this planet ? Has it lost all its compassionate coding, has it been totally bred out of the DNA ? Has society degraded to this level ? Did we not learn anything from history ? What happened to love for your fellow man/woman ? Where are the so called leaders of our society ? What happened to the voice of the mass to end such atrocities ?

C’mon folks, unite and stand up against all the injustices perpetrated in the name of all kinds of reasons. WHen next you vote or elect an official strip some of their powers of authority and then make them more accountable for all their actions. Question everything, all assumptions, all beliefs, everything you take for granted. Only then will we as a society be able to move forward without self destruction.

Make yourself a better human being. Starting now …..

  2. There is a positive side to this – people naturally trust. Without that life would be a lot more difficult. The blame lies with those that would manipulate and abuse that trust – thats a political problem and can easily be sorted.
