Powers of Ten

To build on the previous blog, The Pale Blue Dot, today we have another mind-expanding example of perspective-shifting.

View the Milky Way at 10 million light years from the Earth. Then move through space towards the Earth in successive orders of magnitude until you reach a tall oak tree just outside the buildings of the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee, Florida. After that, begin to move from the actual size of a leaf into a microscopic world that reveals leaf cell walls, the cell nucleus, chromatin, DNA and finally, into the subatomic universe of electrons and protons.

  1. using power of ten takes ones thinking into unexplored space, apce of the mind and gives a better view of a situation never percieved in a current situation

  2. I’ve found the Power of Ten exciting and challenging because I have to think more – creatively and laterally. Its been highly motivating too and I love the momentum that follows. Its about getting more consistant in practising a new way of thinking and taking action.

  3. I saw the video and bought myself the whole series of 7 Cd’s of Carl’s serials. One of most treasured possessions now

  4. I guess as a scientist I normally think in powers of ten across orders of magnitude for solving work problems. Haven’t applied it to solve life and personal problems. Hmmm.

  5. From my early days of “a Universe within my thumbnail” contemplations of scale of universes, which led to roping a one meter square in the backyard to observe what world might exists at a lower level within my viewing. A magnifying glass and patience rewarded me with a broader concept of scale and a glimpse into an unnoticed world which changed daily. Wars, dramas, roadways and the universal fight to survive on a tiny bug planet. The tred of my foot approaching the square meter destroyed countless systems and interupted many lives though I had no intent to harm. I enjoyed the movie and again realize we know so little in this vast cosmos. We will enjoy each day to the power of “Ten” and our existance will be better!

  6. Never was one to love numbers but have to say the power of 10 works for me. I also now have a greater appreciation of Zero and the contrasts of power & insignificance it can play. Will enjoy thinking about this.

  7. thats fantastic, shifts perspective in a flash, i love the power of ten, it allows access to much larger thought patterns and opens up much greater opportunities. I have been using it for a few months and see the diference as a real experience.

  8. We live at a period of time when we are encouraged to think in sound bites. We are not encouraged to think beyond current media conditioning. Ten power is a tool that will move us away from the norm. We naturally see growing by adding. Rabbit farmers and compound interest users understand growing by multiplying. It is a good companion of perfection. Hopefully we will see loaf of bread and its slices by default.

  9. just because I cant see it doesn’t man it’s not there. Without the boost from 10 power thinking some of these images would never be seen

  10. It´s amazing!! How great the universe is!!! I just feel that there´s some much more to see, to discover,l to learn by using the Ten Power!

  11. Years ago and once upon a time I became extremely interested in the magnification of the marijuana bud the most beautiful and mind expanding stories were written in the substructure of this plant hours and hours were devoted to the ever changing patterns and cities of exhibitions were so colorful and captivating. I strong urge all to place examples of diferent strains under a microscope see what the macrocosmic world and this without ever imbibing in the product itself.

  12. How to multiply for ten my current level of income? (I have working in a particular project. I´m working in a list of more punctual actions than the ones a list next)
