What is the most important thing you will take away from this lecture?
To allow individual creativity to flourish, to allow peoples’ natural innate talents to germinate and grow we need to remove the shackles that constrain us. Our economic paradigm drives our educational systems to narrow particularity as to academic standards rather than appreciating the breadth of intelllgences available to humans. We need to bring our whole selves to the table, to encourage the interaction of various interdisciplinary interplay to enable and foster the nourishment of human growth.
Creativity – original ideas that have value. Originality is a causal effect of a preparedness to be wrong, yet we stigmatise being wrong. If a job is worth doing then it’s worth doing badly… Meaning it is ok to be wrong when you are trying to achieve a goal, just keep going.
My general conclusion is that the educational system is worldwide converted from one aimed at developing the individual to one aimed at conditioning the individual to be a mini-unit in the whole.
While watching this lecture I was thinking to myself, I have never looked at it this way. I always thought of schools as unnecessary but to think they kill our creativity actually makes sense. I remember being a little tacker running around pretending to be army men with my imagination using all sorts of creative items to enhance the experience. Now I could not do that if my life depended on it, I do not have the creativity and imagination that school took away from me.
Wouldn’t it be great if schools could have some sort of selection process to assign you to classes based on what type of person you are, much like the Harry Potter house selection, the academics could be with likeminded people, the artistic type like wise and same with the sporty types, then have these type of activities as the core of your learning which to base other subjects on.
Creativity is paramount to evolution in thought
We need the children of the future to be better adaptors of creativity to provide solutions for problems that we don’t know we need answers to

We all learn in our own way, forcing someone to learn in a way that is destructive to their core learning ability is not going to get the most out of the poor individual. Being creative allows us to think outside traditional learning, and to be entertained while doing it 🙂
We can now allow learners to be creative thinkers. Create the environment and give them the opportunity to do critical thinking..
